We can fully characterize any recycled polyethylene with tests including: density, melt flow, melt viscosity, % color, % ash, % polypropylene, melting profile by differential scanning calorimetry, tensile strength and elongation, flexural modulus, notched stress crack resistance, un-notched stress crack resistance, oxidative induction time, and thermal stability.
Results of research conducted under the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP 04-32) have shown that it is not too difficult to use recycled PE to match the initial physical and mechanical properties of virgin resins. However, the real issue is how the materials perform over time. Of particular importance are long-term stabilization and stress crack resistance.
